TORONTO, November 10, 2025 – For many Canadians, modern life demands a vehicle that can play multiple roles – one comfortable enough for the daily commute, stylish enough for a night on the town, and versatile enough for a weekend getaway with family or friends. The 2026 Toyota Highlander – available with gas or hybrid-electric powertrains – does it all, in a sophisticated package that’s everything Canadians need it to be.
“Toyota is committed to providing a choice of vehicles to every Canadian, and the Toyota Highlander family showcases this in many significant ways,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “It demonstrates our multi-pathway approach to powertrain design, with a choice of hybrid-electric or gas powertrains. With its winning blend of style, safety, comfort, and performance – all built upon our reputation for quality, reliability, and value – the Highlander is the refined SUV as only Toyota could create it.”
Highlander expresses modern sophistication through an aggressively sculpted body design delivers style and aerodynamic performance. To achieve this, Toyota engineers specified the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) – a platform that enabled designers to create a low, wide body design for a sleek profile and firmly planted stance. More than a style choice, the body design lowers the centre of gravity for enhanced vehicle stability, superior handling, improved fuel efficiency, and a quieter ride.
Open the doors, and Highlander welcomes Canadians to a cabin defined by impressive amounts of comfort, space, and – above all – versatility. Available in seven- and eight-passenger cabin configurations with easy access to all three rows, every Highlander invites Canadians into a welcoming environment characterized by soft, padded surfaces and a tailored look. Eight-person models feature a 60/40 split folding second row seat that accommodates three people. For extra comfort, seven-person models replace the bench with a pair of captain’s chairs. All models feature a 60/40 split, fold-flat bench in the third row. When there’s cargo to carry, Highlander offers up to 2,387 litres (84.3 cubic feet) of space behind the front row.
In keeping with Toyota’s commitment to a multi-pathway approach to powertrain design and engineering, the Highlander family is offered with a choice of all-wheel-drive powertrains:
Every member of the Highlander family is a technology showcase headlined by the Toyota Multimedia system. This bundle of smart connectivity technologies helps keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens. Other standard technology features include a seven-inch multi-information display and the Smart Key System with Push Button Start.
As a Toyota, every member of the Highlander family also features an impressive bundle of active and passive safety technologies. All models feature Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, designed to enhance driver awareness, decision-making, and control. All models also feature the Toyota Star Safety system, a backup camera, the Blind Spot Monitor system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, an anti-theft system, a tire pressure monitoring system with auto-location, and eight airbags.
