TORONTO, November 18, 2025 – The Toyota GR Corolla is more than an incredible, sporty hatchback. Created by the same team that has made TOYOTA GAZOO Racing a force to be reckoned with on the world stage – and track tested and approved by master driver Akio Toyoda himself – the GR Corolla is designed and engineered from the pavement up for those who love the driving fun of a high-performance, agile, hot hatch. For the 2026 model year, Toyota has enhanced the entry-level Core model with several upgrades, making every GR Corolla even better.

“Toyota is dedicated to providing every Canadian with the greatest choice – so everyone can find the perfect vehicle for their needs and lifestyle. The GR Corolla is a perfect example,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “With an incredible powertrain – including a choice of manual gearbox or automatic transmission - and the aggressive good looks to match, this is the authentic, track-proven rally car as only Toyota could create.”

The GR Corolla is the hot hatch, designed and engineered by the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team to deliver thrilling fun behind the wheel. It all starts under the hood, where the team has packed a 300 horsepower 1.6L 3-cylinder turbo engine that delivers up to 295 lb-ft of torque for rally-ready performance. This is mated to a choice of high-performance gearboxes – a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Every GR Corolla drivetrain includes the rally-spec GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system, which ensures its power and torque translates into exceptional traction and control by optimizing power to each wheel with the twist of a dial. Sport-tuned suspensions, front and rear Torsen limited slip differentials, and disc brakes with ventilated and slotted rotors deliver GR-worthy cornering, agility, stability, and stopping power.

The GR Corolla’s style doesn’t just telegraph its performance – but enhances it. Toyota designers and engineers prioritized lightweight aerodynamics to maximize performance without compromising strength and safety. The GR Corolla has a low, planted stance with a wide track and numerous attention-grabbing details. Inside, the cabin holds up to five adults. Heated front sport seats support driver and navigator for spirited driving, controls are placed in easy reach, and gauges are laid out to deliver information at a glance.

Every GR Corolla is a technology showcase – headlined by the Toyota Multimedia system. This bundle of smart connectivity technologies helps keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens.

Every GR Corolla also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – the newest configuration of Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Blind Spot Monitor system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist, a backup camera, 10 airbags, and an anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer.

Canadians shopping for a 2026 GR Corolla can choose from three sporty grades:

The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla Core features several upgrades this year. These include a wireless charging dock for personal electronics, heated front row seats upholstered in sport suede with accent stitching, dual zone air conditioning, and a distinctively muscular hood bulge. These join an already impressive list of standard features including 18-inch black alloy wheels, red painted brake calipers, brake cooling ducts, a heated steering wheel, the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start, a Toyota Multimedia system with Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect features plus and eight-inch screen, and a 12.3-inch multi-information display.

The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla Premium MT builds on the Core model with several enhancements. The exterior is upgraded with 18-inch matte black alloy wheels and a carbon fiber roof, while the Toyota Multimedia system adds the Drive Connect feature and is built around an eight-speaker JBL Audio system. Other upgrades include a head up display, sub-radiator, and front and rear parking sensors.

The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla Premium AT swaps out the six-speed manual gearbox for an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. It features the same great upgrades as the Premium MT package, plus an intelligent clearance sonar system and full-speed dynamic radar cruise control.
